#46 – The Gingerdead Man

Movie Victims,

Last week we watched a movie that will surely be studied by film students for years to come as an example of mid the 2000’s resurgence of low budget teen horror films. In the last days of Blockbuster Video, they needed films that teased violence and titties, but didn’t quite deliver on either. It also didn’t quite deliver on Gary Busey, maybe because in 2005 we were only slightly aware of what a loonball he was.  We were all waiting for the ad-libbed mania that only The Busey can deliver.

But there were weirdly enjoyable bad movie things to enjoy

  • shooting down a banner from across the street with a shotgun without harming the building.
  • the small town bakery is the size of a warehouse, has a basement and a full room oven.
  • full room oven used to bake one cookie.
  • the only thing they ever really use to fight the little bastard is a revolver that never needs to be reloaded
  • Gingerdeadman gets the gun (best scene in the movie)
  • evil land developer, hot evil land developer’s daughter
  • Evil Monologue in front of open oven door.

The never ending bullet festival revolver was quite possibly the most comical thing in the movie. I agree Mark, that I feel like if they just let Gary Busey be Gary Busey this movie could have been so much more.

add to the list if you can.
This week is probably Shibbs turn to pick as we are done with the Chris J. redemption tour. I’ll be in VA next week, so that either means that some of us can get together or I can finally force Wade, Nigel, and Jesse to watch.
