#55 – Spookies

Movie Farting Zombies,
Last week we watched ‘Spookies’ and boy was it. It was a little hard to follow because of the low D’s and also because according to Chris it was two movies sandwiched together.

I showed up a little late so I missed the introduction to our villain. But he dies near somewhat unceremoniously in the middle, so did it really matter? Count Chocula or whatever lives in the attic of the house and traps some people downstairs. Then he picks them off one by one using his monsters. Much like Rita Repulsa or Mumra he lets others handle his light work.

I think there is some kind of subplot about keeping his wife alive for hundreds of years and secretly having her give birth to a vampire boy.

Man, it’s just all so confusing and unnecessary….

I mean the plot is unnecessary, the monsters are actually on point. Farting Zombies, Spider Lady, Young Dandy Wolfman. There were some seriously gross practical effects.

Also I’m so disappointed in the lack of tits in this movie.  Especially those jumbos that I really wanted to see.

This week is Bill E’s choice. I’m a little late in the email. But it’s still on for tonight at 830.

Spookies is a 1986 American independent horror film directed by Brendan Faulkner and Thomas Doran, with additional footage directed by Eugenie Joseph. It stars Felix Ward, Dan Scott, Alec Nemser, and Maria Pechukas, and follows a lost young boy and a group of partying teenagers who find an abandoned mansion and become trapped inside as a warlock tries to sacrifice the group with the intention of using their vitality to keep his wife alive.

The film was given a limited theatrical release in 1987, with a more widespread video release in the latter year, and also aired on cable television's USA Network multiple times between 1988 and 1991. Despite its limited release, modest box office haul and scarce availability, it has achieved a cult following since its release.
