Movie Desert Warriors,
Last week Q picked a movie from the catalog of forgotten 80’s knockoffs and it did not disappoint. Stryker from 1983 is a movie that combines some (the best?) parts of Star Wars, Mad Max, Flash Gordon, A boy and his Dog, and just about any other 80’s sci-fi fantasy.
Recap.

With these knockoff 80’s movies, if I don’t write the recap on Friday I pretty much forget the plot of the movie. If you want to read the real plot here’s the Wikipedia Entry . It contains much more detail than I actually thought was going on.
What I do remember is this.
Stryker is some sort of apocalyptical badass, played by an actor that usually plays mid-level henchmen in other movies. He doesn’t have any real back story, but he wears a vest and a cool hat so you know he’s legit. He rescues a woman from a gang of generic leather clad punks. They work for the main bad guy Kardis (Thanks Wikipedia), a Ming the Mercilous knockoff who rules this gang. There’s another gang of football pad wearing amazons who ride Harleys. When you see them you can almost hear the coked up screenwriter shouting about how awesome they will be.
At some point in here there’s a couple generic battles and maybe a chase. At some point we meet the gang of Jawa knockoffs, they’re probably nuclear mutants. A guy does get buried up to his neck and peed on, so that’s always great.
Then there’s two of the slowest most boring ‘sex’ scenes in movie history.
The undergroud colony shows Stryker that they have a glacier and it’s unlimited water! Then all hell breaks loose as Kardis attacks with 100s of men and 3 tanks. It’s a pretty great 80’s action scene and clearly where 90% of the movies budget went.
Thoughts.
- That guys stomach is amazing.
- These guys have a ton of gas for the cars AND TANKS
- They would live somewhere else, for sure.
- I thought you guys were mistaken about the bewbs in the trailer, because i didn’t watch it. but NOPE, them jubblies are in there.
- fuck this Stryker guy, the Amazons should be the heroes.
Facts.
- apparently the entire film was shot at a Filipino mining works
- The review described the Cohen’s script as Howard R. Cohen’s script as “insane” and leading man Steve Sandor as “ugly”, and a “combination imitation of Indiana Jones and Mad Max”
- Domestic Total Gross: $1,723,487
- 9% on RT
- this is a pretty funny (and better) recap
We’re looking straight down the barrel of a Chris Johnson pick this week. Thursday 8:30
don’t forget to…
Have your pets spayed or neutered.

Stryker is a Philippine action film directed by Cirio H. Santiago.[3] The film is set in the future where after a nuclear holocaust, survivors battle each other over the remaining water in the world.[citation needed]
After nuclear war has defoliated the Earth, the survivors live in colonies in a endless quest for drinkable water. A young woman named Delha is on the run from the evil warlord Kardis and his henchman. She is rescued by Stryker and his young companion Bandit. She later finds herself trapped again by Kardis and resists torture to reveal the location of her colony.[citation needed]
Meanwhile, Stryker and Bandit ambush a Kardis water tanker, drive it to his fortress, and manage to escape with Delha. Delha reveals that she has been trying to contact Trun, Stryker's estranged brother, to assist in the defence against Kardis. Trun has been captured and buried by Kardis' men, but is rescued by Stryker. Trun has his lieutenant Bazil to gather his army, but Bazil suddenly betrays them, leading Kardis to attack the colony.[citation needed]
Stryker is then captured and tortured, but is rescued by a group of dwarves to whom he had previously given precious water. After a final climatic battle, Trun's battalion defeats Kardis' army with help of Stryker and the dwarves.[citation needed]
