Movie Hectors,
This week we watched ‘Night of the Comet’ from 1984. What were we thinking. When I was 15 and turned off this movie after 25 minutes I could have never imagined that there was 110 more minutes of film. Zombie new wave gays, sub machine gun dance party, suicidal feminist scientist, A double zombie dream sequence, Fucking Hector!…
Oh God why is this awesome movie so boring!
Hector the walking stereotype cannot help the movie, he tries… oh lord he tries to spice things up with his Mexican flavor. Why does he take a side trip for a good portion of the movie to San Diego? Why not jut have him in the same town? He apparently runs back anyway in under 2 hours.
Does the main character do anything? They make a big deal about her father raising her Sarah Conner style, but she’s distracted by pretty clothes at the mall, DAMN THESE FEMININE HORMONES. This is the hallmark of a shitty 80’s movie, some flashy girls to distract you from the mile wide plot holes. We should have known, one of them is wearing a cheerleader’s outfit for half the movie.
Are they immune? The scientists say that they left the vents open. But it’s not like she was in some kind of sealed room, I mean I guess Hector was in his truck, but it has windows and vents. What makes them so special! I’m demanding answers.
What even happened in the end?! Hector shows up, tricks the one inept guard, Then lights off some explosives Wil E Coyote style. Then they just walk away! Blow it up! Every body high five freeze frame! It would have been more interesting to have this happen in the middle then show them surviving with the video game champion?
Fuck this.
Wow, that stat really has me rethinking everything. 83%… fuck… maybe everything in the 80’s was terrible. Maybe I’m being to harsh. wow.
For the record you were not being too harsh. How the hell this movie has an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes is beyond my imagination.
