Podcast 008 : Monster Squad

The Monster Squad is a movie that never really found its footing in the time it was released, But has come to be loved by many people through rentals and word of mouth. Will Q discover a new classic? or will this be relegated to the dusty video store of history?

Its pretty apparent now that I did not see this movie as a kid, or at least it didn’t make as big as an impression on m as Gremlins, Rad, The Goonies or even The Rescue. But it has found a special place in my heart. If anything I have a memory of talking about this with my cousins, their house was the place that I watched all the inappropriate movies that my parents wouldn’t let me watch.

Making a podcast about this movie is probably a rite of passage for many in the internet generation. Its a semi-forgotten movie that does hold up to scrutiny about the effects and the story. Some of the 80’s language and misogyny can get tedious, but it’s a product of it’s time.

But I think you’ll enjoy our discussion of the magic of The Monster Squad.
