#31 – Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons

Movie Monkey Gods,  We watched “Journey to the West” suggested by Bill E. Another in his relentless pursuit to prove that we should love Asian cinema. This one translated a bit easier to my American eyes with it’s big budget special effects and it actually being a 100% action-comedy. I liked it, what’s not to like giant things, monkey men, weirdly aggressive women… if this was in English I would rate it 5 stars A#1 American Fun time.

#29 – Punisher: War Zone

So last week the hyper violence continued. Thanks to Suleman who was gracious enough to choose this shoot em’ up killer movie, only to not bother to show up, we got to watch one of Marvel comics darkest characters come to life in vivid face punching, head exploding, chandelier twirling color.

#27 – Return of the Killer Tomatoes

The fruit that must not be named is finally done away with. Our hero retired to the small town where he opened up a neighborhood pizzeria with the best raspberry sauce pizza.  But things quickly develop when our new star, not George Clooney, meets the lovely Tara Boumdeay (Karen Mistal)(Kelly Kapowski) while out delivering one of those amazing pizzas.  There the viewer learns that music isn’t a weakness but a strength for Professor Gangreen and his evil henchman/future news reporter Igor.  The evil pair plan to take of the world with their new tomato soldiers and the help of incarcerated Bob Downs(?).  But what they never planned for was puberty love.  Not the song, the kids.  And the help of a fuzzy tomato(FT).  With the kids help, some cameos with previous heroes, and 30 minutes of reused footage it made for another fantastic adventure that was able to continue with two more movies and a

#25 – Action Jackson

So I guess I’ll handle the recap for this week.  Unfortunately I didn’t get any screenshots simply because I wasn’t expecting to do the honors.  Maybe we need to come up with an official routine for who is writing these things.  It could be as simple as do the recap for the movie you chose, obviously it should be put out no later than the following Thursday. Anyway let’s get to it.

#24 – Hell Comes to Frogtown

Rowdy Movie Pipers, It was my choice this week and with that weighty responsibility I went with 1988’s “Hell Comes to Frogtown”. Starring Roderick George Toombs as ‘Sam Hell’ a man so virile that what’s left of the government after WW4 has enslaved him as some kind of super stud to repopulate the earth.

#23 – Macgruber

MACGRUBER!!! Although I wasn’t ever really a fan of this skit on SNL, I understand its meaning to some, and I’ll always remember the original theme song.  I guess that was the first thing that took away from this movie for me. This movie wasn’t terrible or great for me and instead was a run of the mill mediocre viewing.
